The group runs for 10 sessions. Each session lasts 1-1/2 hours each, from 8 to 9:30 pm EST on Wednesdays.

The basic structure, which is necessarily loose, is a brief check-in, in which members talk about their challenges that week; a discussion of the most important issues that come from the check-in, sharing support and discussing solutions that group members have had success with in their life (different people may need support depending on their needs that week); and a brief presentation by me each week on a cult recovery topic, followed by a brief discussion.

The group takes place in a secure chat room at public-talk.com. The chat room allows audio, video, and text participation. There a variety of security steps we'll take to ensure privacy and confidentiality, which I can describe in more detail if you like. You will be able to download a transcript of the text of the session for reading after the session. A lot of people really like this feature, as they tell me they learn even more from re-reading the session and reflecting on it at their own leisure.

This brief outline may not give a good idea of how powerful group therapy/support can be. It's somewhat like having 10 pairs of eyes focusing on your growth, as opposed to just one pair in individual therapy.

I charge between $10 and $35 per session, depending on ability to pay. I explain the sliding-scale fee in detail here. Scroll down to the group fee structure, find your yearly income, then read across to the right to find the fee I suggest. I don't ask for proof of income. I figure we are all adults, know our budgets, and know what we can afford. I make a suggestion, but I'm sure we can find a fee that we can both be comfortable with.

About Me
I am a licensed psychotherapist who has worked with over 2,000 former cult members since 1995.

I conduct online support groups for people who have been spiritually abused by toxic groups, abusive churches, and cults.

I designed the groups for people who left their group, but still face challenges functioning in life. Difficulties might include: career/education, relationships, finances, health, depression, grief, shame, re-establishing spirituality — any challenge caused by your time in your cult. The groups are open to anyone who is recovering from abuse by any toxic group. The groups are limited to a maximum of 8 members, on a first-come, first-served basis.
