CULT COUNSELOR FOR FORMER CULT MEMBERS
How Mental Health Providers Can Consult with Me
Are you searching for a cult counselor because you are still having difficulty with your job, your relationships, your life — even after leaving your cult?
I am a licensed therapist and cult counselor, working with over 2,000 former cult members since 1995 — including Christian, meditation, New Age, and other cults.
Many cult members have worked with counselors before. But they report previous counselors expressed judgment, disbelief, or little understanding because they were not experienced with cult veterans. I spent 23 years in the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation — I know personally what you are going through. (See "Why I Believe the TM Org Is Dangerous.") I promise to offer you experienced cult counseling — without judging, blaming, or disbelieving you.
On the pages at right and in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below, I outline my perspective on recovery from cult abuse. I specialize in therapy with former cult members who left their group some time ago, but continue to have difficulty in mainstream society.
I recommend you read about my qualifications to help you decide if I am the right cult counselor for you. Browse my home page for information about my general counseling practice. Learn about my available treatment and fees.
If you or a loved one are looking for expert cult counseling, ask me for a free initial consultation to learn as much information as you need to make an informed decision about working with me.
Because there are relatively few experienced cult counselors, I offer counseling over the phone or Internet in addition to my regular office visits.
Together, my clients and I have worked on challenges such as:
-
financial difficulties, career direction, identity confusion, difficulty holding a job
-
dissociative states ("spacing out")
-
floating into and out of your cult or other high-demand groups
-
panic or anxiety attacks
-
depression
-
post-traumatic stress
-
stress symptoms, such as headaches, backaches, asthma, and others
-
difficulty making decisions
-
dependency on others
-
slowed psychological development (difficulty maturing)
-
guilt, fear, or shame
-
sleep disorders (insomnia, hypersomnia, or nightmares)
-
eating disorders
-
sexuality issues
-
difficulty trusting
-
fear of intimacy or commitment
-
